An open letter to IT recruiters

Wherever you found me... I'm positive that my resume was available to you. If you were capable of doing your job you would have seen that I am not qualified on Acme Widgets (or whatever). I get 10-20 SPAMS a day from losers like you. Do your god damn job and quit SPAMMING people. I didn't post my resume online so you could harvest the email and ignore everything else. I am a geek, I expect people to be intelligent, and when people demonstrate an inability to read, I assume they are not intelligent people, and not the kind of people I want to work with. I realize that you do this so you can be lazy, but it would be much better for you to just do the work of actually finding people, instead of asking me to do your job for you.

Thank you,
Jasmine D. Adamson

Some people do not have the ability to read because of lack of resources. It is truly not their fault. You are not the most intelligent man on the face of this earth, your comments on illiteracy show this. You are not at all the person who holds any sort of power to say this about people. Understanding is part of intelligence. You, the smartest man alive ought to know that. Have a nice day Miss Jasmina

You're missing the joke. You really have to be an IT person with an online resume to get this one. It's not a shot at people who can't read.

If it isnt then take out the people who cant read that is extremely insulting. to me and to people who cant read. it is not a joke it is a horrible thing to say

Again, you're missing the point. This IS a direct insult, but it's directed at people who CAN read just fine, and don't take the time to do so.

It's about respect for other people's time... not about anyone's ability to do or not do something. Again, if you understood the joke, you would think this is funny. I posted it to Codeproject and everyone there thought it was hilarious and not one single person thought it was insulting to anyone except the people it's supposed to be insulting. Don't comment again until you understand the joke.

Jasmine,

I'm with you!

IT Recruiters would, by & large, have to be among the most ignorant of "professionals" out there in the business world. (I use the term "professional" very loosely as you can tell...)

If the majority of the industry had any ethics, they would realise that they need to use their themselves as the example for not only placing people in positions but also in informing applicants whether they were successful or not.

As for the comments of 'anonymous' and their selection of one phrase in a post: If you haven't the balls to put your name to a post, then why post at all?)

I've been approached by many recruiters who are either one or the other: Illiterate or Ignorant.
You may feel free to choose the best descriptor because a vast number in the industry qualify for one or both of these terms.
